Recently, I began a new endeavour. A podcast endeavour. While I did co-host a podcast a couple of years back with a mate of mine, due to time commitments (uni, work, life), we abandoned it after roughly 40 episodes.
I’ve always enjoyed the podcast realm. It’s a great place to learn a lot and listen to some notorious thinkers. Some of my favourite podcasts would have to be the Waking Up podcast, The Dollop, The Joe Rogan Experience, and of course, my boy Dr. Jordan B. Peterson’s podcast.
I’m sure the fact that both of my parents were involved in radio for a very long time—my dad still is, in fact—has had a slight influence on me being pulled into the podcast realm. But I do enjoy spreading information. And when it comes to this particular podcast that I have begun, the 10-15 minute episodes make it simple to digest.
I think I’ll be in the building phase of this podcast for quite some time while I find my bearings and establish a true direction for what I would like to do with it. For now, I am going with the slogan: Life, science & philosophy. For noobs.
As you can see from the diagram above, the triangle represents these three realms (life, science, philosophy). The snake-like symbol in the middle of the triangle is a representation of the ouroborus—i.e, the snake/dragon eating itself. This symbol represents the constant death and rebirth of the creature, something that is symbolic to how we should aim to live our lives. That is, we should persistently seek to learn and grow and evolve through not only purposeful learning, but also through what we learn following a destruction in our lives.
This is why the term “noobs” is used in the slogan. It is to indicate that we should always remain open-minded and willing to go into any endeavour, despite our lack of skills or knowledge for it.
Essentially, this is the point of starting this podcast. I would like to use it to aim to progress my thinking on topics. I’d also like to use it to practice my speaking. Furthermore, I would like to use The Pernosophy Podcast as a platform to talk to the best thinkers of our time.
Whether they be psychologists, philosophers, biologists, chemists, physicists, and everything in between, this podcast’s main aim is to spread information that will help grow everyone’s brain listening in.
So, if this podcast sounds like something you’d be interested, be sure to check out your favourite podcast app. If you’re an Apple user, check your iTunes store (just search my name Hayden Perno). And if you’re a Samsung user, check out Google Podcasts (also just search my name there). Alternatively, you can listen to it by heading to pernosophy.com.
After you’ve listened to an episode (or two), I’d love to hear your thoughts on the show. And to help me out, you can leave a review via the podcast app you listened to it from. Whilst there, why not hit that subscribe button, too 😉
On the first episode of The Pernosophy Podcast, I (very) briefly introduce who I am and what I’d like this show to be about. I also discuss a story regarding one of my client’s who recently went through a breakup after six years together, a mortgage, and a looming engagement. After this, I talk about some destructive elements that occur following this. Plus, I explore the topic about why difficult things in life always get worse before they get better, relating things back to my client’s story and the infamous Disney classic, Toy Story.
