Are drugs really all that bad?

After listening to an interview with Dr. Carl Hart and watching his TED talk recently, my opinion and understanding started to sway.

So, I decided to bring up the topic on The Real Talk Podcast and dissect it.

Episode 28 – Are We Wrong About Drugs?

In short, however, the research and opinion Dr. Hart discusses and has spent many years studying, revolves around the fact that the media and the regurgitation of information is responsible for creating the negative image of illegal drugs that most of us carry around.

Most of the time, our understanding is along the lines of all drugs being bad, with the more “extreme” ones, such as crystal meth and cocaine, playing a part in crime, socioeconomic status, lifestyle, and addiction.

But, are we wrong in our overall cultural understanding? And, should all drugs be legalised?

You can check out the episode here and let me know your thoughts about all of this. I would love to hear them.

Ps. I would totally encourage you to check out his interview here and his 2014 TED talk. Perhaps even his book, too.
