In this video I explore the topic of lying and relay my own thoughts alongside some quotes from Sam Harris’ essay Lying. In doing so, I discuss what it could mean if nobody ever told a lie, what can go wrong when people opt to deceive others, and how telling the truth in every single circumstance—including white lies—can be achieved by giving the receiver some context. Following this, we take a look at Disney’s classic film, Aladdin, and watch how the story of the diamond in the rough, Princess Jasmine, the Sultan, Genie, Carpet, Abu, Jafar & Iago plays out when the hero decides to warp his reality.
